Picture of the Day: Mainland Tourists to Macau

Mainland tour groups are getting ready to board the ferry to Macau
This evening I headed to the Macau ferry terminal in Sheung Wan to get some ferry tickets for tomorrow, and I was shocked to see large groups of mainland tourists (on tours) crowding the departure area and talking loudly in their various dialects.

When I was buying my ferry tickets, I asked the woman behind the counter if it was like this everyday. She nodded and said, "Last night was even worse!" she exclaimed and added they had snapped up tickets until 10pm.

These tourists are waiting around with their luggage...
So there are more mainlanders going to Macau these days? She nodded again.

For a while there, the numbers dropped off as China was trying to stop capital flight, but these tourists are not high-end rollers, but tourists on their first visit to Hong Kong and Macau... can you tell?!
